There's a handy new tool that you can use to find out how happy your congressional district is.  Check it our here.  According to Politico, "The Gallup-Healthways index isn't a one-time snapshot like most polls, but an aggregate of continuous daily tracking polls taken of attitudes about Americans' physical and mental health as well as their feelings about the future, so it's a pretty good gauge of where the country's head is at  (The national index has been sinking lately, and is at a low ebb of 63.8).

Going district by district -- and accounting for the vagaries of the rating system -- the picture is pretty stark: The happiest House districts are the richest; the unhappiest are the poorest."

Since learning life skills will improve mental health, we suggest you check out some free social skills activities.

Up, Up, Up

I want to see Charleston soar up the index! And, WINGS can make this happen.  I am surprised at the low national rank Charleston holds for well-being.  But, when we start equiping kids with the skills to lead healthy, happy lives the result is healthy, happy adults.  That will surely bump Charleston up the index.  I declare WINGS in every school! How could you not agree?

Neat Tool

That is a neat website. I hope some people that are happy can be socially aware and understand that is not the case for everyone.  They need to "step into the shoes" of others. Hopefully this will encourage happy people to do what they can to help people who aren't so happy. The social skills activities we teach the kids do a wonderful job of enforcing this lesson. A country full of socially aware people can help the national index rise again.
