A new report from the CDC emphasizes the vital importance of social and emotional skills in increasing school connectedness - the key factor in whether students succeed. The federal government's Division of Adolescent and School Health notes the "striking" scientific evidence that students with high levels of school connectedness have better attendance records, higher grades and test scores, and stay in school longer. What a boost to those of us out here in the field working to advance social and emotional education to have The Centers for Disease Control beat the drum for these skills in enhancing school connectedness. The Movement is growing by leaps and bounds!
