Add some sizzle to your summer with Reward Raffles

Its summertime - time for fun in the sun! Unfortunately, summer is also a time when routines get thrown out the window. Since kids thrive on routine, the summer can be a very trying time for parents as boundaries are tested. Reward Raffles are a quick and fun way to help your kids stay on track.

First, go to Staples or Wal-mart and buy a roll of carnival style raffle tickets. They are easy to find and any Associate will be able to point you in the right direction. Or you can print your own tickets at home. Then, call a quick family meeting to explain Reward Raffles.

Here is how it works:

Every time your child displays a behavior that makes you proud, give them a ticket. Examples: Saying thanks to you for cooking dinner, cleaning up without being asked, sharing a toy with a sibling.

It's the child's job to put his/her name on the ticket and save it.

Every Friday, gather the kids around for the Reward Raffle. At this time, the kids put all of their tickets in a bag or box and you pull a winner; or even a couple of winners.

Example prizes: A "No Chores for a Day" pass, a "Stay up 15 minutes later" pass, a small toy, a free night out to dinner with Mom, etc.

Some rules to keep in mind:
• Kids can only earn one ticket at a time.
• Kids can't ask for a ticket. Parents make the decision about when to give a ticket. And definitely no begging!
• Tickets can't be taken away once given.

If you only have one child or would like more kids to participate, ask your kids' friends parents to participate as well.
