March to Your Own Beat

As summer arrives, kids will be headed in many different directions. Whether it's camp, hanging out at home or in the neighborhood, or staying with grandparents or other family, kid's routines will change and they will likely be interacting with new people and groups of friends. As they begin their summer adventure, remind kids the importance of being kind and caring to others and learning more about everyone they meet.

Talk to kids about how everyone is unique.

There is no one in the whole world that is just like you.
There is no one in the whole world that is just like you.  You are unique!  Even you and your best friend are different in some ways and that’s a good thing.  If we were all the same, life would be pretty boring.

Remind kids to march to their own BEAT!
Do what you want or like, not what everyone is telling you to do. When you meet others, think about the word BEAT and remember to be kind and caring!

  • B     Be comfortable with who you are and what you like.
  • E     Express yourself! Don't hide how you feel or what you like.
  • A     Accept everyone! Remember, everyone is unique.
  • T     Treat everyone fairly and the way that you would
  •         want to be treated.

Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.
