Joye Law Firm Gives Back!

There was a lot of Joye in S.C. this past Friday- and we don't mean just joy and happiness! We were so thankful to have eight volunteers from Joye Law Firm join us at Burns Elementary for a very special WILD Wings.
Volunteers helped WINGS kids learn about different personality traits through games, discussions, and The Three Little Pigs. The energy was high as volunteers assisted in each aspect of the day, creating even more engagement for the children.
The day started with a game called "Trait in a Haystack" which helped kids and adults better identify personality traits within themselves. Children got to pull a stick with either a positive or negative sign from a bag, run to a volunteer, and identify either a positive or negative trait that they possessed. The kids were able to celebrate the characteristics that make each of us unique while the volunteers helped to make it fresh and fun.
Next up several of the volunteers read the story of The Three Little Pigs and helped to lead a discussion about the personality traits of each little pig. Building up our social/emotional vocabulary, we discussed that the first pig was lazy, the second, strong-willed and unworried, and the third hardworking and brave. Making connections between the volunteers and WINGS kids, we realized that all of us have both positive and negative personality traits within us.
More games and fun continued as students tried to escape from the Big Bad Wolf in a new game that had kids brainstorming additional personality traits. Our WINGS kids would write down a trait that they possessed, find a volunteer to sign off, and run back to their nest. This continued as the Big Bad Wolf tried to tag students.
To wrap up this exciting day and celebrate our positive personality traits and talents, we had a huge dance party with Joye. We took turns showing off our dance moves and having extra fun with our new friends. A big thank you to each of the volunteers who took the time to spend with us after a crazy week in South Carolina!
