She's Got WINGS

A big part of the WINGS program is building our children’s self-awareness and ability to, as our creed reads, “Love and accept who I am on the inside.”

Meet 3-year-old Isla Engel Marguerite Mackinnon, who at her early age possesses these WINGS qualities and more. Living in London, England, Isla has always had a strong understanding of who she is and who she wants to be when she “grows up.”

Change of Directions

Isla’s answer to what she’d like to be when she grows up has affirmatively been, until recently, “a princess.” But after spending the summer at her family’s farm in Somerset, England she’s realized that instead of a princess, she’d be happier living as a “farm girl.”

Just as the WINGS Creed says, “Life’s full of surprises that make me feel different ways.” And we’re impressed by Isla’s strength of character, ability to dream big, and her eagerness to “step into other people’s shoes and see what they are going through.”

It’s this self-awareness that makes Isla our youngest “She has WINGS” recipient. Whether she ends up tending the farm, donning fancy dresses after all, or changing her path again a dozen more times, Isla proves you can soar with wings at any age, all you have to do is have the courage to look inside yourself and love and accept who you are… inside and out.
