WINGer Snapshot

Keyasia Gathers, 23

Keyasia is the new Program Assistant serving Main Street Elementary School students in Lake City, SC. We asked her some questions to learn more about her, and here's what she said:

I graduated from: Charleston Southern University

Major: Social Science

WINGer since: 2010

What have you learned through your service at WINGS?
I began as a WINGSLeader, and in my time here I've learned a lot about myself as well as how to better deal with others. The training we receive at WINGS is invaluable and has really given me the tools to become a leader.

Has WINGS changed you in any way (habits, behavior, interactions, perspective, etc.) and how?
I'm far more socially aware and take into consideration how my actions can affect others. I'm able to step into the shoes of others and better navigate conversations and situations by considering others perspectives.

What is your favorite part of WINGS?
I really enjoy Community Unity. It kicks off the program each day, and it's a time where I'm able to bond with the kids and see how they're feeling.

What Main Street Elementary Program Director, Jessica Lovins says:
"Keyasia has such a vibrant heart and driven energy. She is going to do great things with WINGS, and Lake City is blessed to have her!"
