The Gift of Time

The Holidays=Gifts and Gifts=Money (and lots of it!)

If you are running low on dough or just want to give something a little more thoughtful and creative this year, think about gifting some of your personal time!

Whether you have a big family or small family, buying all those presents can leave you with a lot less in your wallet each December. And in my experience, many of those toys and products you spent your hard earned money on are forgotten about or tossed to the side mid-January. So why not gift something personal that your family member or close friend will never forget?

A great way to do this is by making “time” coupons that can be cashed in whenever the recipient wants to use them. For example: a foot rub for your spouse, a picnic and play time at the park for the kids, a night of babysitting for your sibling who has children, chaperoning a field trip or assisting a teacher in the classroom, or helping organize a friend's house.

There are so many different ways to gift your time. Make it personal, fun, and creative while saving money this holiday! Because at the end of the day, the holidays are really about spending time with your loved ones.

“Holidays have been commercialized. It has become about the material things. But the holidays are about sharing stories and being in each other’s presence.” - Malcom D. Lee
