Meet Shamar

Energetic first-grader Shamar Brehon is having so much fun at WINGS this year, now that he has learned some new strategies for coping with surprises. As the Creed promised, self-control brings “much better days!”

Shamar’s WINGSLeader Ms. Sylvia, who supervises the Sparrows Nest, says he is always smiling from ear to ear. It’s taken a lot of hard work on Shamar’s part.

Last year he spent a lot of time trying to find new ways to handle surprises rather than pouting. The Creed says: “Life’s full of surprises that make me feel different ways. If I can control myself, I will have much better days!”

So Shamar and his WINGSLeader really made the effort. He has been able to recite the Creed by heart since the middle of last year, as a kindergartner. Shamar has put the Creed into action, and spent considerably less time in the Reflection Pond this year and much more time having fun. He truly loves WILDWings, Freeplay and relay races. His absolute favorite WINGS game is “Catch Me If You Can.”

Shamar’s latest Choice Times are “Mad Scientists,” where he gets a chance to mix up crazy concoctions and “Snap It Up” where he plays games that all involve snapping. He’s a past recipient of the WINGS Bronze award for good behavior, and he does a great job of supporting his Nest during competitions.
