Building Connections Beyond Program Time
Including families, teachers, and field trips brings communities together
Yes, WINGS intentionally teaches young adults and elementary students life skills over the course of a school year. But beyond that, WINGS staff members are focused – obsessed, really – on building relationships with families, parents, guardians, teachers, principals, custodians, front-office staff, bus drivers, and organizations in their local communities. WHY? It takes a village. It also provides students the opportunity to experience new activities, meet new people, expand their perspectives, and have fun with their families.
The WINGS staff never falls short on the most creative themes, party ideas, or field trip outings. From family ‘glow parties’ to teacher appreciation ‘spa gift bags’; field trips to visit colleges or serpentariums; fall festivals and spring proms – coming together is a WINGS ritual passed down from generation to generation.
