Common Legacy Gift Types
Bequest
A charitable bequest is the most common type of legacy gift. As a donor, you are able to direct an executor or trustee to make a gift to Wings for Kids through a will or trust. You maintain complete control over the assets during your lifetime, and you can change your instructions for distribution of the assets at any time.
Life Insurance Policy
Naming Wings for Kids as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy can become a powerful and simple way to support our work. You can name Wings for Kids as a beneficiary for a percentage or a specified amount of the policy, or you can make us a contingent beneficiary.
Retirement plan beneficiary
You can designate Wings for Kids as a beneficiary of your retirement plan. Depending on your tax situation, your plan assets can be transferred to Wings for Kids tax-free and your heirs may be able to avoid income tax on the distribution from your plan. As a qualified charity, Wings for Kids will pay no taxes on the proceeds and will have more funds to reach the children who need us most.
charitable remainder trust
Support Wings for Kids by electing to have us be the charity of choice for your Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT). A CRT will allow you to have an immediate charitable deduction, while still providing an income stream for yourself or another person.

Investments by partners are critical to our success in changing the lives of children. Whether through a grant, sponsorship, or in-kind donation, we are grateful for the opportunities to work with others to help scale our reach and impact. Each year public funding covers around 50% of our annual operating expenses. We depend on individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to cover everything else from salaries to technology, to staff training, to rent and supplies. These investments fuel our ability to scale our programs and reach more kids.
Like any successful venture, we need investors who share our values, believe in our mission, and support our model for growth. An investment in WINGS We can’t offer stock options, but instead, the ROI is measured by the number of kids who are set to soar through school and life.
Provide a Scholarship
Every child who attends WINGS Afterschool does so at NO COST to them or their families. Participating students are required to commit to full time attendance and receive nearly 500 hours of dedicated programming each year. Instead of going home to an empty apartment or the temptations of the streets, a scholarship means one more child will find smiling faces and a healthy snack after school. One more child will be surrounded by caring role models who provide constant encouragement. One more child will learn to understand their emotions, behave responsibly, build rewarding relationships, and make good decision – skills that will last a lifetime. Change a child’s life with an annual investment of $2,400 or a monthly gift of $200. Provide a Scholarship >
Sponsor an Enrichment Program
Enrichment opportunities enable children from a financially challenged background to have a more level playing field with their more prosperous peers. The children of affluent parents generally get exposed to arts enrichment, sports, or participate in character-developing clubs outside of school. Low-income children do not get these opportunities. Invest in capacity and growth
Supporting our organizational capacity helps improve our effectiveness, financial stability, program quality, and program research and development. An investment in our organizational capacity can underwrite training, fund a needed position, or help us expand to a new area as we work to spread our WINGS Across America! Learn More >

Give the gift of your time by lending a helping hand as a volunteer. We are happy and honored to utilize a variety of volunteers from high school students, corporate teams, and retirees. Our volunteers help out with a number of things including assisting with homework during Academic Center, serving dinner, or reading with an individual child.
work with our kids
Volunteers are typically needed Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00 PM. You can sign up to volunteer at a frequency that works for you – one time, once a week, or once a month. No experience or special skills required – other than a heart full of love to share with our amazing kids!
Please note, a criminal background check is required prior to volunteer service at our program sites.
Time and talent
We also welcome volunteers to help with special projects or to supplement our Soarporate Office staff. We could use help with graphic design, copy-writing, editing, Raiser’s Edge, and WordPress. Or, maybe you would make an ideal volunteer coordinator. Get in touch and let’s explore if your talents match our current needs.
